8th Anniversary Party Review

Hey guys! Chill here. So, Club Penguin is 8 years old now... wow, that's a long time! It's had a longer run than several of Disney's other games, which were Pirates of the Caribbean (almost 6 years old), Pixie Hollow (one day short of being 5 years old), VMK, or Virtual Magic Kingdom (a few days short of being 3 years old), and The World of Cars (less than 2 years old). It's also catching up to Disney's oldest game, ToonTown (over 10 years old). Anyway enough of Disney virtual game history - it's time to review the 8th Anniversary Party!

Club Penguin's Anniversary Parties have always been really wonky. For their 1st and 2nd, it was a small event, being a small celebration in the Coffee Shop (and at the 2nd, the Book Room as well). At the 3rd, however, which was considered to be Club Penguin's best Anniversary ever, along with the Coffee Shop and Book Room, the Town and Night Club were also decorated. There was also a big live event at Times Square in New York, and Club Penguin merchandise such as plush toys and figurines launched that day as well. The 4th removed the Night Club decorations but the other rooms were still decorated. The 5th was basically the same as the 4th, with the Coffee Shop, Book Room, and Town decorated.

By the 6th Anniversary Party, they started to merge with the Halloween Party. The 6th featured a Halloween-themed party hat, cake, and decorations. Aunt Arctic visited, being the first mascot visit for an anniversary since the 1st when Rockhopper showed up. The Coffee Shop and Book Room were decorated, along with the Town, although the Town wasn't as decorated as previous parties due to the Halloween Party already taking place. The 7th, regarded as the worst, had very few decorations. Only the Coffee Shop was decorated, and it was decorated very minimally. The Book Room was missing decorations
for the first time since decorations were given to it at the 2nd. Many penguins attributed the terrible event to the redesigns of the Coffee Shop and the Book Room which happened earlier that year in August and June, respectively.

So, how does the 8th hold up? Can it go back to the glory days or will it get crushed by Halloween and room redesigns? Let's see!
Features
There's actually not much to do at this party. Read the yearbook, meet Aunt Arctic, grab the free items... that's really all.
One thing that bothers me a lot is the fact that Club Penguin used the new art style for a 2012 page. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think they should've done that.
Score: 3/5

Decorations
The decorations at this party were VERY unique. While the Book Room's decorations are still missing, the Town is given some decorations again, and the Coffee Shop has been transformed into a museum. There's lots of nods to previous Club Penguin events and historical items, such as some very rare clothes on display, all the party hats back to the Beta Hat, the inflatable octopus from parties such as the Water Party and Christmas Party in 2008, abstract art that was in the Book Room's former design, and a portrait of the Festival of Flight way back from 2009.
Score: 4/5

Items
This anniversary has more than just a party hat. Besides mascot backgrounds, this is the first time since the 3rd that an Anniversary Party has had more items than the party hat. Woohoo! The party hat is rainbow-colored, very fitting for this year, with the discovery of the Rainbow Puffle and all. It looks cool, but I think rainbow is a bit... uncreative.
The other item is a background showcasing the old Town from before Operation: Blackout. I like this a lot, and it shows that Club Penguin isn't afraid to ignore their roots. Sometimes it feels like CP pretends that other things didn't happen, such as using the new art style in the yearbook for 2012 instead of the old.
Score: 5/5

Music
The party has NO special music. The Coffee Shop has the same music as it always does, and the Town keeps the music it has for the Halloween Party. No score.
Score: 0/5

Non-Member Friendliness
Everything is for non-members. Like, everything.
Score: 5/5

Final Thoughts
To answer my earlier question, no, it hasn't gone back to the glory days. BUT, it's way better than the 7th, which was pretty much the worst anniversary ever.
Final Score: 4/5

Did you guys like the anniversary?

Chill is out, peace!
