Puffle Party 2014 Review

Hey guys! Chill here. Today I'm going to review the Puffle Party 2014. The Puffle Party, since its introduction in 2009, has been a beloved party, but 2013's wasn't the greatest. Can 2014's companion celebration do better?
Features
As always, we can transform into puffles. The feature is kept somewhat fresh, with the addition of Gold, Dino, Dog, and Cat puffles. SPEAKING OF Dog and Cat Puffles... they really aren't the greatest. Like Dino Puffles, they really can't do much. However, Dino Puffles were still cool because of the fact that they were rare and collectable. Dog and Cat Puffles changed that by becoming PERMANENT puffles in the Pet Shop that you have to pay for. It's not really worth it at all, and I think they should've been kept free. When the Brown Puffle first came out, it was free, and it was WAY better than these puffles. As usual, PH is also waddling around - unfortunately without a new background. The Puffle Park (basically this year's Puffle Hotel) also opened, which is kind of cool actually. Also, just like the "grand finale" at the Muppets World Tour, the Puffle Gala is nothing but garbage. All you do is have your puffles perform tricks - and you don't even get any prizes! Why was this even kept until the end of the party? They should've released it right away (or not use it at all). The Puffle Tricks, like Puffle Digging, are cool for a few minutes, but then just get boring.
Score: 3/5
Decorations
The decorations are a fresh new update from previous years, with the removal of the themed rooms. Personally, I miss them, but hey, what are you gonna do. Unfortunately, this leaves several rooms, like the Night Club, Dance Lounge, Iceberg, Mine, and Underground Pool undecorated. The Pet Shop also isn't decorated for whatever reason. The other decorations are a combination of new and old, with some brand new designs like the Snow Forts, Forest, Cove, and... FINALLY the Coffee Shop. All the designs are pretty awesome, even with the removal of several key decorated rooms.
Score: 4/5
Items
I really have nothing to complain about with the items. While some of them aren't the greatest in the world, none of the items at this party are really junk. It's a shame the hoodies don't look as good in-game as they do on the player card... It was also nice that they threw in the Purple Bunny Ears now that the Easter Egg Hunt is absent.
Score: 4/5
Music
As always, the Puffle Party music never fails to impress me. The old tracks we all love are still here, along with a few from other parties. The new songs are fantastic as well. Keep it up, CP!
Score: 5/5
Non-Member Friendliness
Non-members can visit every room at this party, and get over half of the items.  Of course, they can't adopt the new puffles, but who would've expected otherwise?
Score: 4/5
Final Score
While the features could be improved on, the decorations, items, and music are all amazing. While it's not as great as it could be, it's definitely a step in the right direction.
Final Score: 4/5

What did you guys think of the Puffle Party this year?

Is Club Penguin Rewriting Its Own History?

Hey guys! Chill here. When I reviewed the Prehistoric Party, I said I had a bone to pick with that party. And here's what it is.

At the Prehistoric Party 2014, we saw several things that were inconsistent with modern day Club Penguin. It's important to remember while reading this post that all of our exploits at the Prehistoric Party from 2013 and 2014 affect Club Penguin for years to come, completely erasing major events from Club Penguin in 2005, 2006, and 2012, and changing penguin life during those times drastically.

First of all, this year Rocky's Pizza (obviously the prehistoric version of the Pizza Parlor) was added to Prehistoric Club Penguin. However, there was a Pizza Parlor Opening Party in 2006, and prior to this, pizza wasn't available in Club Penguin.
From Rocky's Pizza, we now know that the Pizza Parlor (and pizza itself) has existed for Club Penguin for MILLIONS of years! In fact, Gary says that while with Garugg the Ugg Ugg in the past, he invented the first ever pizza. Does this mean that, by time travel, Gary opened the Pizza Parlor millions of years early, therefore making pizza exist on CP for millions of years, and COMPLETELY ERASING an ENTIRE PARTY from Club Penguin history forever! Unless Rocky's Pizza was for whatever reason destroyed and then rebuilt as the Pizza Parlor in 2006... but I highly doubt that.
Next up - the Coffee Shop. The Coffee Shop has existed for a very long time without question - it never had an opening party, it was at both of the Prehistoric Parties as the Yum Yum, and it was even in Club Penguin's predecessor, Penguin Chat 3. However, at both parties, smoothies were found at the Coffee Shop, implied by fruit from the Smoothie Smash game seen on the shelves.
Now, prior to August 2012, smoothies were nowhere to be found at the Coffee Shop. Ketchup and mustard, sure, but no smoothies. While Gary may not be responsible for this one, this is still rewriting the events of the Adventure Party: Temple of Fruit, where Smoothie Smash and smoothies were introduced to the island and sold at the Coffee Shop.
And finally, puffles. Puffles weren't discovered in Club Penguin until November 2005. However, Garugg ends up discovering Dino Puffles millions of years prior, which causes Gary to return to the past. While this doesn't seem to be a case of time traveling itself messing with anything, this means that puffles were discovered millions of years ago.
However, this could be explained by the fact that we took all the Dino Puffles to the present with us, therefore fixing this particular time hole, but if that were so, how did modern puffles come to be? If their prehistoric ancestors were all removed and taken to 2014, then the 2005 puffles certainly couldn't of existed on Club Penguin Island.
Also, while it doesn't directly affect the timeline of Club Penguin, collecting dino eggs could've caused dinosaurs to go extinct by removing those eggs from their nests. If these prehistoric parties never happened, perhaps dinosaurs would still be with us on the island today.

HOWEVER: There are two very simple explanations to explain this. The first is that Club Penguin wants to keep these places recognizable. However, the Coffee Shop is still iconic without smoothies - it's the COFFEE Shop. We were fine without a prehistoric Pizza Parlor last year.

The second explanation is that Club Penguin wants to keep these parties simple for kids - two of the major time holes happened in the first year of Club Penguin's existance. It's possible that, now that employees like rsnail, Screenhog, Gizmo, and Billybob, who were there when these original events happened, have all left the company, that newer employees didn't do their research while creating this content.

Plus, there aren't that many players left from the early days to complain about this. Sure you can read about these events in the yearbooks, but what little kid would care, or even think about it for that matter?

Prehistoric Party 2014 Review

Hey guys! Chill here once again. Sick of me yet? :D Haha, just kidding. Anyway, today I'm going to review the Prehistoric Party. The first ever Prehistoric Party in 2013 was pretty horrible, so how does the 2014 one hold up? Will it be fantastic, or will it just leave a bad taste of rotten eggs in your mouth? Let's check it out!
 Features
Dino Puffles are so COOL - but unfortunately the quest for them isn't. It could be worse actually. I liked transforming into dinos too, and I'm glad they freshened it up by adding new colors and even new dino species, instead of recycling the same old ones from last year. Although for some reason, roaring doesn't affect the environment anymore. Dinos also throw snowballs this year instead of losing their lunch on passerby penguins. I'm indifferent to that change.
Score: 4/5
Decorations
The decorations are mostly the same as last year, with a few differences. While some rooms such as the Tree Place got a few new additions, rooms like the Stony Town and Dino Nests looked like prehistoric CP had a Construction Party. Either way, the decorations are pretty nice.
Score: 5/5
Items
The items are alright this time around, although some of them are a bit weird looking, like the Prehistoric Beta Hat, or the Dino Horns. Although, I'll never understand why they added a Stone Hair Dryer.
Score: 3/5
Music
The music is nice. At the Prehistoric Party 2013, the music was one of the ONLY good things about that party, and this party brings back those songs, along with a few new tracks, like the Salon. I really have nothing to complain about here.
Score: 5/5
Non-Member Friendliness
Non-members can, for once, collect every item, and visit every room. However, they can't adopt any Dino Puffles, which was the main purpose of this party.
Score: 3/5
Final Thoughts
This version of the Prehistoric Party was way better than its predecessor. I'm glad Club Penguin got it right and was able to start off the year on the right foot.
Final Score: 4/5

HOWEVER: I do have a bone to pick with this party. (haha get it) But I won't talk about that in this post. Keep an eye out for my next post where I talk about this, Is Club Penguin Rewriting Its Own History?. See you then! In the meantime, leave a comment below about what you thought of this party.

Is the Magenta Puffle Long Gone?

Hey guys! Chill here. Today I'm going to talk about Puffles - more specifically, the Magenta Puffle.

The Magenta Puffle, or the Hot Pink Puffle, has been rumored for years. It started a while ago in February 2009 when a new party was introduced - the Puffle Party. The logo featured every color of puffle, HOWEVER, at the end, the last four colors were white, orange, brown, and magenta. That year, the White Puffle came out. The next year, the Orange Puffle came out. Then, the Brown Puffle. But where's the Magenta Puffle?

My opinion: it's scrapped. Now don't get me wrong, it would be awesome to see a Magenta Puffle sometime soon. But I highly doubt it. Why?

I think Club Penguin is done releasing regular puffles. Last year, we got not one but TWO legendary puffles, Rainbow and Gold.

Now, with the Prehistoric Party, Club Penguin is FINALLY releasing the Puffle Hybrids we've seen since 2011, starting with the six varieties of Dino Puffles.
Going from regular puffles to legendary puffles and then to puffle hybrids is a huge step up, and I don't think Club Penguin will be taking some steps down anytime soon. But, you never know, they are full of surprises. Who would've actually thought we WOULD get the Rainbow or Gold Puffles in the first place?

Today's Updates: The Gold Puffle, New Furniture, Room Updates, and More! (Part 1)

Hey guys! Chill here. Today I'm going to take a short break from Games Month to talk about today's updates.

The big news here is that the Gold Puffle, which has been rumored for a long long LONG time, is finally available to adopt for members! But, just like the Rainbow Puffle we have to go on a quest to adopt it. First, take any puffle of your choice to the Pet Shop. The first thing you'll probably notice is the brand new Gold O'Berry station thing.
For 10 coins, members can purchase a Gold O'Berry to feed to their puffle, very similar to the Pizza Snack Station introduced last month.
Once you pull the lever, the O'Berry will shoot out and your puffle will eat it.
Then your puffle will get a Gold O'Berry icon above their head and have a gold glow pulse from them.
After that, just walk your puffle around the island. Instead of digging up coins and rare items, they can dig up one to three gold nuggets.
Once you've collected at least fifteen gold nuggets, head to the recently reopened and redesigned Cave Mine.
Put your gold nuggets into the jackhammer and... ta-da! You have your own Gold Puffle!
Then you can name it, of course.
Congratulations! You now have the long-rumored Gold Puffle. I named mine Nugget, cuz, y'know, gold nuggets. What did you name your Gold Puffle?  Anyway, here's how it looks on your player card.
And here's how it looks in the igloo. Here you can see its idle pose and doing actions. Sorry about the other random puffles, they wanted to get in on the action too I guess.
From left to right: Idle, eating gum, sleeping, and playing with its toy (Gold Jackhammer)
And here's how it looks on the Puffle Card.
From left to right: Idle, eating, after brushing, and taking a "bath"
Last but not least, here's the dancing and digging animations.
Also, unlike the Rainbow Puffle, Club Penguin has programmed the Gold Puffle into Puffle Launch and Pufflescape, however it doesn't have its own unique sprite yet, instead taking the appearance of the red and white puffles. As you can see I've selected Nugget in these pictures but he's definitely not gold here!

There's also a nice new rug for it at the Pet Shop, but as always you'll need to actually take a Gold Puffle there to see it in person.
The Gold Puffle is pretty cool, but that's not all there is this week.

The brand new Furniture Catalog is now out, which is EPF and wilderness themed in preperation of, you guessed it, Operation: Puffle. Can you believe it starts a week from today already? Unfortunately this catalog has no new hidden items to find, which is kind of a bummer, but it's great if you don't like having to look up stuff or spend hours looking for hidden items that just aren't there.

The first page is all new items. They are the Tall Snowy Tree, River Pontoon Boat, Hot n' Cold Crater, Puffle Kennel, and River's Edge. These items range from 150 to 250 coins.

The second page is also all new items. They are the Medic Tent, Frozen Ledge, Rope Climbing Wall, Log Cabin, Wooden Post, and Log Wall, all ranging from 100 to 300 coins.
The third page is returning items from Operation: Blackout. They are the Spy Car, Cardboard Herbert, Short Security Laser, and Long Security Laser, ranging from 200 to 900 coins.

The fourth and final new page is also returning items. They are the Safe, Containment Cell, Plasma Ball, Paw Print, Boss Desk, Rosewood Chair, and Emergency Light. These items range from 50 to 700 coins.

Personally, Club Penguin could've done a better job with this catalog. The items aren't very good by themselves, and you'd need a lot of other things to make something good out of these. Some of them also seem to be "DIY", (do it yourself) like the Log Cabin and the parts that go with it. I also think Club Penguin should start releasing casual furniture more often, like the Boss Desk or Rosewood Chair, and some new flooring. Like seriously, think about it - how long has it been since we got new igloo flooring?

In other news, several rooms have all been updated for the Gold Puffle Quest - but that's coming in the next post! See you guys then!

November Party Speculation

Hey guys! Chill here. So, this might be a little early but I've been thinking about November's party, and I think I might know what it is...

Thanks to an interview with Spike Hike, we know that the November party will involve being lost in the wilderness. We also know that according to a comment posted by Spike on Club Penguin Memories, there is another EPF mission coming up, and it will have something that many penguins have been asking for for a long time, as well as reveal a big secret that's been right in front of our eyes the whole time.

What does this mean for November's party? Well, if this event is as epic as Spike says, they probably wouldn't squeeze it in with Halloween or Christmas. No, they'd give it its own month. So now we probably know that November's party will involve the wilderness and the EPF. And something that penguins have been asking for for a long time could mean the wilderness, which we originally saw in the PSA missions and later the EPF Nintendo DS games, will become actual rooms that we can explore.
So what about this big EPF mission? Well, in the Halloween Party advertisement video Club Penguin released, you can see Herbert for a few seconds behind the trees. Herbert also appeared in the last Halloween Party video too back in 2012, Ghosts Just Wanna Dance. And after that happened, something HUGE in the EPF happened - Operation: Blackout. So this no doubt means Herbert is back and up to something big.
We also know that there will be some all new surprises for puffles coming this November, as confirmed by Club Penguin's own membership page. This probably doesn't mean new FEATURES for puffles, so what could it mean?
The Puffle Hybrids. What are the Puffle Hybrids you ask? For over a year now Club Penguin has been teasing us with Puffle-Animal creatures that we have never been able to adopt, dubbed Puffle Hybrids by fans. They are the following:
  • Raccoon (seen at the April Fools Party 2012 as a drawing and in the Puffle Trouble video)
  • Monkey (seen at the Adventure Party Temple of Fruit as a statue)
  • Bat (seen at the Halloween Party 2012 and resurfacing in Halloween Party 2013 commercials)
  • Unicorn (seen at the Halloween Party 2012 as a statue and later as a transformation at the Medieval Party 2013)
  • Reindeer (seen at the Holiday Party 2012 as a transformation)
  • Bird (seen at the Holiday Party 2012 as a statue)
  • Dragon (seen in the January 2013 issue of the Spanish Club Penguin Magazine and later as a transformation at the Medieval Party 2013, with a slightly different design)
  • Squirrel (seen at the Club Penguin Media Summit in April 2013 on the wall)
  • Chicken (seen at the Medieval Party 2013 as a transformation)
So, either the Puffle Hybrids will play a big role here or we'll be able to adopt one. (I think perhaps the Squirrel Puffle or Raccoon Puffle would fit best if adoption is the case).
Speaking of Herbert and puffles, way back in Mission 9 of the PSA Herbert mentioned a plan with puffles, but that never came to light. Could this finally be the fulfillment of that? It's been a really long time since that happened, and Herbert has had several plans since (Waddle Squad, The Veggie Villain, Herbert's Revenge, Field-Ops, System Defender, Battle of Doom, Puffle Trouble, Operation: Blackout, Operation: Hot Sauce, and Star Wars Takeover) but you never know.

So, to sum it up, here's what I think is happening. A big EPF mission in the wilderness involving Herbert and his plan to capture the Puffle Hybrids. Maybe? It could logically happen, you never know. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Chill is out, peace!
