Today's Updates: The Gold Puffle, New Furniture, Room Updates, and More! (Part 2)

Hey guys! Chill here. Last time on Today's Updates, I covered the Gold Puffle Quest and the brand new Furniture Catalog. Today I'll be going over the room updates and redesigns, the new stage play, as well as a few minor updates around the island.

First of all, the Pet Shop.
Now, the only thin that may look new to you is the Gold O'Berry dispenser, and the fact that some of the items are gone because of it. However the Adopt A Puffle area has gotten a little facelift, some of the toys have been moved, and there are new toys scattered about, such as the half-pipe you can see near the bottom, as well as the cloud with the rainbow coming out of it, and the gold jackhammer. Next up, the Mine!
First of all, let me just say - I'm SO glad they didn't redo the caves. Even though new objects and such have been added, the mine walls and floors have been untouched. Anyway, the most obvious thing is that there are wood boards and stuff all over. Also, the Cart Surfer area has been updated, with a new minecart design, upgraded sign, and a little cart-riding penguin with a black puffle on top.

One thing that confuses me though is how all this happened. Where the Cave Mine's entrance used to be is an exit up to the Mine Shack, which is FINALLY added. In the Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force game for Nintendo DS, there was a mechanical lift in the Mine that took you up to the Mine Shack, but this is the first time we've ever been able to get up to the Mine Shack without using the map, spy phone, or whatever.

So, the Cave Mine is gone, right? Wrong.
Yeah, somehow the ENTIRE Cave Mine, Hidden Lake, and Underwater area managed to move from one end of the Mine to the other. It's very weird and I have no idea how this happened. It's clearly the old Cave Mine, since it connects to the Hidden Lake and several of the features in the old version of the room are still here, such as digging for coins, and the old coffee table.

Now, I understand them being able to move the Pet Shop over to make way for the Puffle Hotel, because that's a building. But how did they move an entire set of caves without disrupting anything? Okay, let's stop for a minute for a bit of a geographics lesson.

Based on the setting on Club Penguin's map, when you go in to the Mine, you're facing towards the Cave (or the Underground Pool), coming off the Cart Surfer tracks. To your right, the Cave Mine. We all know the Cave and the Boiler Room are under the Plaza and the Town, however there's an inexplicably long doorway that goes under the Snow Forts and past the Gift Shop... anyway, the Cave Mine would be under the path that leads to the Forest from the Mine Shack, like so. That easily places the Hidden Lake at the Forest, where another aboveground entrance is. That would put the Underwater Room either near the Cove, or at that lake overlooking the Town on the map. Trivia: This area is actually the Welcome Lake, which starting in June 2011, when penguins logged on for the first time they would see this room.

Now, we have a well-balanced theory here, besides the inexplicably long doorway. Oh well.

But when the room designs appear, the Mine, Cave, and Boiler Room are still balanced except for that inexplicably long doorway........grumble grumble

Since the Cave Mine is moved, it ends up in the wilderness of Club Penguin now. The Hidden Lake is inside of a mountain, and the Underwater Room just falls off the face of the earth or something. And then there's still the entrance at the Forest to the Hidden Lake, so is it like a two-way magic portal that fairies and pixies and all kinds of enchanted woodland creatures live in? Aye caramba...

ANYWAY, enough of my nerdy rambling. The last redesigned room is the Mine Shack. The shack itself has received some minor updates, and that's about it.
Next up, the Stage has a new play. To celebrate the Gold Puffle's discovery, Quest for the Golden Puffle is back! Unfortunately the traps haven't worked for a while, so standing on the gold puffle panels won't activate the snowballs or the boulder anymore...
Also, just an interesting thought I had - anyone remember Yukon's line, "These weren't the puffles we were looking for."?
Well, maybe we should listen to Yukon's pop culture references a lot closer from now on...
Anyway, the play is exactly the same as before. Well, almost. Where's the Keeper of the Stage? Hmm...
Also, PH is visiting for the discovery of the Gold Puffle, with a brand new background.
As for the more minor updates, puffles around the island have disappeared and there are missing posters in their places. As I previously mentioned, the Keeper of the Stage has vanished, along with the Keeper of the Boiler Room, the Black Puffle outside of Puffle Rescue, and Plok, the Orange Puffle from the Box Dimension. Herbert is definitely up to something here...
There's also a brand new pin, which can be found at the Lighthouse. It's called the Herbertech pin. Who knew Herbert had his own company!
Last but not least, there's a new image on the homepage for Operation: Puffle. Herbert appears to be mind-controlling the puffles, with a GOLD remote that suspiciously has the same glow that the Gold Puffle does, and agents trying to free them by taking the helmets off their heads. Dun dun dun... get ready agents!

Today's Updates: The Gold Puffle, New Furniture, Room Updates, and More! (Part 1)

Hey guys! Chill here. Today I'm going to take a short break from Games Month to talk about today's updates.

The big news here is that the Gold Puffle, which has been rumored for a long long LONG time, is finally available to adopt for members! But, just like the Rainbow Puffle we have to go on a quest to adopt it. First, take any puffle of your choice to the Pet Shop. The first thing you'll probably notice is the brand new Gold O'Berry station thing.
For 10 coins, members can purchase a Gold O'Berry to feed to their puffle, very similar to the Pizza Snack Station introduced last month.
Once you pull the lever, the O'Berry will shoot out and your puffle will eat it.
Then your puffle will get a Gold O'Berry icon above their head and have a gold glow pulse from them.
After that, just walk your puffle around the island. Instead of digging up coins and rare items, they can dig up one to three gold nuggets.
Once you've collected at least fifteen gold nuggets, head to the recently reopened and redesigned Cave Mine.
Put your gold nuggets into the jackhammer and... ta-da! You have your own Gold Puffle!
Then you can name it, of course.
Congratulations! You now have the long-rumored Gold Puffle. I named mine Nugget, cuz, y'know, gold nuggets. What did you name your Gold Puffle?  Anyway, here's how it looks on your player card.
And here's how it looks in the igloo. Here you can see its idle pose and doing actions. Sorry about the other random puffles, they wanted to get in on the action too I guess.
From left to right: Idle, eating gum, sleeping, and playing with its toy (Gold Jackhammer)
And here's how it looks on the Puffle Card.
From left to right: Idle, eating, after brushing, and taking a "bath"
Last but not least, here's the dancing and digging animations.
Also, unlike the Rainbow Puffle, Club Penguin has programmed the Gold Puffle into Puffle Launch and Pufflescape, however it doesn't have its own unique sprite yet, instead taking the appearance of the red and white puffles. As you can see I've selected Nugget in these pictures but he's definitely not gold here!

There's also a nice new rug for it at the Pet Shop, but as always you'll need to actually take a Gold Puffle there to see it in person.
The Gold Puffle is pretty cool, but that's not all there is this week.

The brand new Furniture Catalog is now out, which is EPF and wilderness themed in preperation of, you guessed it, Operation: Puffle. Can you believe it starts a week from today already? Unfortunately this catalog has no new hidden items to find, which is kind of a bummer, but it's great if you don't like having to look up stuff or spend hours looking for hidden items that just aren't there.

The first page is all new items. They are the Tall Snowy Tree, River Pontoon Boat, Hot n' Cold Crater, Puffle Kennel, and River's Edge. These items range from 150 to 250 coins.

The second page is also all new items. They are the Medic Tent, Frozen Ledge, Rope Climbing Wall, Log Cabin, Wooden Post, and Log Wall, all ranging from 100 to 300 coins.
The third page is returning items from Operation: Blackout. They are the Spy Car, Cardboard Herbert, Short Security Laser, and Long Security Laser, ranging from 200 to 900 coins.

The fourth and final new page is also returning items. They are the Safe, Containment Cell, Plasma Ball, Paw Print, Boss Desk, Rosewood Chair, and Emergency Light. These items range from 50 to 700 coins.

Personally, Club Penguin could've done a better job with this catalog. The items aren't very good by themselves, and you'd need a lot of other things to make something good out of these. Some of them also seem to be "DIY", (do it yourself) like the Log Cabin and the parts that go with it. I also think Club Penguin should start releasing casual furniture more often, like the Boss Desk or Rosewood Chair, and some new flooring. Like seriously, think about it - how long has it been since we got new igloo flooring?

In other news, several rooms have all been updated for the Gold Puffle Quest - but that's coming in the next post! See you guys then!

Today's Updates: Snack Station, Igloo Music, Catalogs, and More!

Hey guys! Chill here. How is everyone? I'm doing pretty good. Anyways, I've decided to talk about today's updates. Normally I don't do this but since Club Penguin released a lot of non-party related updates today, and they're all pretty big, I'll talk about 'em. Let's get started, shall we?

I'll start with the brand new Snack Station at the Pizza Parlor.

If you take your puffle to it, you'll be able to feed them a pizza for 5 coins. If you're a member, for 10 coins, you can get a deluxe pizza which sends your puffle's food meter to the maximum.

There's also the secret deluxe candy pizza. It's the exact same as a regular deluxe pizza.

Next up, some new igloo music. This month, Club Penguin added 8 new and awesome tracks.

  • What Lurks In The Night - This is a brand new song we've never heard before. From the way it sounds, I have the feeling it's a brand new Penguin Band song. It sounds super epic so I'm excited to see what they do with it!
  • Party In My Iggy -  I'm sure you all know what this is. Club Penguin's latest song, Party In My Iggy.
  • Dare to Enter the Mansion? - This is an older song, it's the Gariwald's Mansion theme from last year. I've always liked this song - especially after the party ended.
  • Scary Ambience - This is a brand new... song, if you could call it that. It's not really a song, but you can hear werewolves, crows, and thunder in the background. That's about it.
  • Monster Masquerade - This song is a little bit older, but it's AWESOME. You could hear it in the Monster Room at the end of the Dark Chamber at the Halloween Party 2010 and 2011.
  • Seek and Hide - This is a really cool song that I'm surprised Club Penguin brought back. Now this was before I joined, so I'm not quite sure, but I believe this song played at the Halloween Party 2006.
  • Ghosts Just Wanna Dance - It's Ghosts Just Wanna Dance, but nothing like we've ever heard before. This time it's instrumental, and it sounds pretty awesome if you ask me.
  • Ocean Voyage - I have no clue why Club Penguin added this, but hey, it's here. This is a pretty cool song, but I have no idea when it played. Definitely in the earlier years of Club Penguin. It might sound familiar to you newer penguins, and that's because it was remixed for Rockhopper's Quest in February 2012 which now plays in the Ship Hold and Captain's Quarters.
Next up, we have the new Penguin Style. It's pretty cool, and considering how Penguin Style has been this year I'm glad they've gone back to more event-themed catalogs. Although one thing I still don't understand is those "rebellious teenager" outfits. :/

The new Igloo Furniture catalog is pretty cool too. Another thing I like is the new concepts, the party pack and the candy pumpkin thing.

There's also a brand new igloo, the Eerie Castle, which looks really cool. Unfortunately due to lack of coins I don't own it at the moment.

Another update is that we can FINALLY use hand items while walking our puffles! I decided to be weird and demonstrate it by walking Flare alongside a puffle.

I think this was a great update day. Do you like the updates this week?

Chill is out, peace!
