Features
I really liked the trains mechanic. It was something new and fresh that I hope CP does in the future. If Gariwald's mansion comes back, maybe we can have Doom Buggies. I also really liked the game that went along with the trains where you earned coins to donate to Coins for Change. We can also meet Rockhopper, who is a bit... interesting, now? Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) this time is transformation free, so there's no Frost Bites or Reindeer Puffles.
One thing I don't like is how Club Penguin executed Coins for Change this year. 2012 and 2013 both ruined Coins for Change. Before people would donate just to donate - there were no prizes involved. In 2012 they added the three transformations, and you had to buy cookies for 10 coins to transform into them. These transformations lasted about 10 minutes, and the proceeds went to Coins for Change. Unfortunately when people bought these cookies, they WEREN'T donating just to donate - they were donating to get/renew their transformation. This year makes it even worse - the proceeds for the trains went to Coins for Change, and now you actually got PRIZES the more people donated. Nowadays it seems like Coins for Change ISN'T a donation - it's a purchase.
Score: 3/5
As usual, the decorations are pretty awesome. A lot of them are reused, but some of them are new, like the School (pictured). And I gotta tell you, the School is AMAZING. The Train Station is also pretty cool. Unfortunately there's no Santa's Magic Sleigh this time around, so there's that.
Score: 4/5
Items
The items aren't that bad. I like the free items, especially the Milk and Cookies, Penguin Nests Pin, Clean Water Pin, and Jolly Roger Hat (pictured). The trains are pretty cool too, but the party catalog itself... ehh, it's not the greatest. There's not many good items there this year, which kind of stinks. Also, non-members FINALLY GET AN IGLOO! How cool is that? It's Christmas-themed so you can't really use it that often, but still, that's pretty great. I hope Club Penguin gives non-members more opportunities to decorate their igloos and change their igloo designs in the future.
Score: 4/5
Music
The music was pretty nice. Old Christmas songs that everyone loves, and a couple new tracks. I can't really complain here.
Score: 5/5
Non-Member Friendliness
All the free items that CP was giving out were for non-members (even the IGLOO). They could also access the party rooms. However they couldn't purchase from the catalogs.
Score: 4/5
Final Thoughts
This Christmas go-around was pretty good, although it wasn't nearly as good as previous years. The focus on Coins for Change also kind of took away from the rest of the party and the potential it had.
Final Score: 4/5
